Viterra building new grain terminal
REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA
- Viterra announced on Sept. 16 that it
plans to build a new high throughput grain
terminal near Sexsmith, Alberta, Canada.
The concrete and steel facility will be developed at an estimated capital cost of C$24
million, featuring 30,000 tonnes of grain
storage and 104-railcar loading capability.
Site work is planned to start this fall, with
construction to start in the spring of 2009
and the first grain deliveries expected in
August 2010.
The general contract for the project has
been awarded to FWS Construction Ltd.
The terminal will be serviced by Canadian
National Railway.

The Andersons to add grain storage
capacity in Michigan, Illinois
MAUMEE, OHIO, U.S. - The Andersons,
Inc. announced on Sept. 19 that it has signed
a Letter of Intent to purchase a grain storage
facility in Reading, Michigan, U.S., and lease
a facility in Jonesville, Michigan, U.S., from
Sheridan, Indiana, U.S.-based JBS United.
In addition, The Andersons also recently
signed a long-term lease agreement with
Green Lion Bio-fuels LLC, Canton, Illinois,
U.S., for a grain storage facility located in
Canton.
"These facilities provide us with 3.6 million bushels of additional storage capacity
in Michigan and 4 million bushels of space
in Illinois," said President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Anderson. "Continuing to
expand our storage capacity and service to
customers is a part of our long-term strategy
in our grain operations."
The purchase and lease are expected to
close as soon as due diligence is complete.

CBH gets approval to
expand grain handling
CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA - The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has allowed Western Australian
grain handler CBH to expand its role in the
Western Australian grains industry.
A new program called Grain Express will
allow CBH to supply grain storage and handling services to growers and marketers of
grain, but only if they agree to use other services of the company.
The ACCC believes the Grain Express program will make the industry more efficient and
won't lessen competition in the market place.
