The technical sessions will include
the following presentations:
* "Future Developments in Pet Food
R&D," Dr. Greg Reinhart, former vicepresident of Iams R&D;
* "Research Needed for Claim Support," Dr. Bill Burkholder, FDA;
* "Examining the Safety of Supplements for Horses, Dogs and Cats," National Research Council; and
* "Alternative Ingredient Strategies
in a Tight Market," Dr. Roy Brister,
Tyson Foods.

AFIA is also sponsoring the International Education Forum from 8 to 10
a.m. on Jan. 29.
Speakers include Jarrod Kersey of
AFIA, who will present an update on
the regulatory and legislative issues impacting the U.S. feed industry based on
the new presidential administration and
Congress, as well as Rick Scholtens and
Jaron Vande Hoef of Interstates Companies and David Musiediak of WARE
Inc., who will discuss energy-saving
ideas for feed manufacturing and ingredient facilities.
A new addition to the IFE/IPE educational lineup is the Animal Agriculture

Environmental Sustainability Summit, 1
to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 27 and 8 to 10 a.m. Jan.
28. The event will feature experts from
animal agriculture and representatives
from the retail and food service industries. The program will feature presentations from companies that have developed successful sustainability programs.
"The American consumer increasingly is requiring environmental responsibility from all industries," explained
program committee co-chairman Vernon Rowe of Pilgrim's Pride Corporation. "That responsibility extends from
farm to fork, including everyone in between such as food producers, processors, retail and food service. Each segment must fulfill its own responsibility.
This summit will demonstrate the commitment and environmental stewardship
of animal agriculture."
