EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Before the official opening of the
IPE/IFE, the AFIA and Poultry Protein
& Fat Council will sponsor the fourth
annual Pet Food Conference, Jan. 2526, which will cover a range of current industry issues such food and feed
safety standards and pet nutrition research trends.
In the international market session on
Jan. 25, there will be a presentation on
"International Pet Food Market Supply
and Demand," and a panel that includes
government and trade association representatives from the U.S., Canada, European Union, Australia and other countries will discuss regulatory issues that
have a global impact.
The afternoon session will focus on
pet food and ingredient safety with presentations on "Contamination Control
of Mycotoxins and Salmonella," "Food
Safety Standards, Audits and Certifications," and "An Update on the GRAS
(Generally Recognized as Safe) Approvals Process."
The second day of the Pet Food Conference will focus on regulatory issues
in the U.S. with updates on the Food and
Drug Administration Amendments Act,
the Reportable Food Registry and food
safety legislation. The potential impact
