So Global Industries, Inc., based in
Grand Island, Nebraska, U.S., skipped
augers in favor of chain and paddle conveyors. Chain and paddle conveyors are
gentler on the grain, causing less damage
as the product is moved.
Additionally, Global's chain and paddle product provide a nearly perfect cleanout. Rarely, if ever, is there any remaining product in the conveyor after another
product has been moved. Augers can
damage grain, and there are lots of places
for excess product to sit and get moldy.
The system provided by Global included a Hutchinson 25.4-cm loop system, two Hutchinson 20.3-cm double run
conveyors and seven Hutchinson electrical loop discharge gates.
Organic grains require a great deal
of cleaning. Once the system cleans the
grain, waste materials are moved to a
separate hopper bin and used as compost.
The new facility is currently handling
corn and soybeans, but it was designed
to handle a wide variety of other grain
products as needed. Electrical was added during the six-month construction
period to enable Bois D'Arc to double
the project size.

Izmir, the third largest city in Turkey.
Izmir has the second biggest port in
Turkey, after Istanbul. For this reason,
Izmir has historically been linked with
an agrarian culture.
Work has been under way for 18
months on the new bulk material storage, drying and handling facility for
Abalioglu Yem-Soya VE Tekstil San.
AS. Symaga worked with its partner,
5S Makine Co., on the project.
The facility, which can manage
more than 1,000 tonnes per day, was
the largest installation by capacity for
Symaga in Turkey. Symaga supplied
six galvanized steel silos, each with a
capacity of 13,000 tonnes, for a total
capacity of 78,000 tonnes.
5S Makine supplied four warehouse
storage buildings with a capacity of
7,500 tonnes each, for total capacity
of 30,000 tonnes. The facility handles

AS is a key player in the Turkish agriculture industry, and has never before
worked with Symaga. The customer
has years of experience in purchasing silos and handling equipment, and
Symaga said it was delighted to have
been chosen for the project.
