I'Anson Brothers' new feed mill nears start
MASHAM, ENGLAND - I'Anson Brothers Ltd., a familyowned
supplier of animal feeds based in the United Kingdom,
is preparing for its new Waterloo House feed mill to begin
production and has named Andrew Richardson as the facility's
commercial director.
The mill will complement the company's existing facility at
Masham and at £20 million is the largest financial investment
in the 120-year-plus history of the company, which has sales
in more than 40 countries. Focusing on bulk farm feeds, it is
set to more than double production capacity by an additional
P&H Milling to expand Ontario facility
HAMILTON, ONTARIO, CANADA - P&H Milling Group,
a division of Parrish & Heimbecker Ltd., will expand its
Hamilton, Ontario, facility with a third flour mill and two storage
silos, reinforcing the company's commitment to Canadian
agriculture producers and the steadily growing demands of the
baking industry.
The two new storage silos will handle feed ingredients such
as soy meal and distiller's dried grains, along with wheat for
the flour mills, Parrish & Heimbecker said in its Feb. 9 announcement.
Construction of the third mill at the campus
is scheduled to begin in March. The facility currently has a
daily production capacity of 7,300 cwts, according to Sosland
Publishing Co.'s 2024 Grain & Milling Annual.
The existing P&H Hamilton flour mill, operational since
2017, was the first new flour mill built in Ontario in 75 years.
Australian groups fund heat-tolerant wheat research
CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA - The Grains Research
& Development Corp. (GRDC), the Australian National
University (ANU) and other industry partners recently announced
a $1.9 million research investment to accelerate the
development of climate-resistant crops.
The three-year investment will focus on the development
of heat-tolerant wheat genetics, as well as determining what
makes a wheat crop able to survive, grow and produce yields
under high-temperature conditions.
Nibulon restructures grain elevator operations
MYKOLAIV, UKRAINE - Nibulon is changing the structure of
operations for its Ukrainian grain elevators to increase efficiency.
The company's 22 elevators will be divided into six groups:
* Mykolayivska is the largest and includes the transshipment
terminal, Kolosivsky elevator, Vradiivskyi JSC,
Novoodeska and Voznesenska branches
* Kremenchutska including Kremenchutska, Globynska
and Hradizk
* Poltava including Romodan, Reshetylivska, Skorokhodivska
and Maryanivska
* Cherkassy including Zolotoniska, Pereyaslavska and Vitove

200,000 tonnes and is designed so it can increase capacity to
meet growing market demands.
The facility is located in the Dalton Industrial Park in
North Yorkshire, England. It has been designed to be as energy
efficient as possible and with the least environmental
impact.
Richardson has extensive experience within the agriculture,
retail, equine/leisure and fuel sectors, having previously held
the roles of managing director and group chief executive officer
at two other major agricultural supply companies.
This facility, doubled in capacity in 2020 with a second mill
and increased storage, has been pivotal in enhancing the company's
capability to receive and process wheat, P&H said.
Among the world's major wheat producers and exporters,
Australia's climate is perhaps the most susceptible to drought.
During a three-year drought in the late 2010s, the country produced
crops of 20 million tonnes, 17 million and 14 million,
well below its 10-year average.
In the 2022-23 marketing year, Australia produced a record
crop of 40 million tonnes, but hotter and drier weather this
year has dropped projections for the 2023-24 crop to 25 million
tonnes.

Bessarabska will continue to work independently because it
is located far from all other groups of elevators and is focused
on transshipment of grain, not accumulation and finishing.
The formation of Mykolayivska is at the final stage while
the others are in place, Nibulon said.
