ROTTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - Despite ongoing geopolitical,
LDC
financial results hold steady
macroeconomic
and environmental
challenges,
earnings and net sales for Louis Dreyfus Co. BV held steady
in the first half of 2023.
The company reported net sales of $25.8 billion for the
six months ended June 30, compared with net sales of $30.3
billion in the same period a year ago. Earnings before interest,
taxes, depreciation and amortization were $1.169 billion,
compared with $1.170 billion a year ago. Segment operating
results were $568 million, down from $662 million a year ago.
The global footprint of the Grains & Oilseeds platform was
key in securing strong financial performance in the first half
Bunge shareholders vote for Viterra acquisition
ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI, US - Bunge Ltd. shareholders on
Oct. 5 voted in favor of the company's acquisition of Viterra
Ltd., approving the issuance of 65,611,831 common shares,
par value of 1¢ per share. The shareholders also voted in support
of moving the company's global agribusiness' place of
incorporation from Bermuda to Switzerland. Bunge's operational
headquarters will remain in St. Louis.

leases elevators
BLOOMINGTON, ILLINOIS, US
- Western Grain Marketing, LLC
(WGM) leased the grain elevators
owned by Farmers Elevator Company
of Biggs & Easton with over 4 million
bushels of grain storage capacity
in Biggs and Easton, Illinois, US.
Biggs & Easton has grain sales of
6.5 million to 7 million bushels annually.
The Biggs & Easton locations
will complement the current WGM
assets helping to provide a greater
level of service to farmers. The lease
was effective Sept. 25.
WGM is a joint venture of
GROWMARK, Inc.; Sunrise FS;
Prairieland FS, Inc.; and West Central
FS, Inc. WGM provides grain storage,
trucking and grain marketing services
through its 21 locations in western
Illinois and has a total storage capacity
of 36 million bushels with annual grain
sales of more than 80 million bushels.

The merger with Viterra is expected to close in mid-2024,

for the company's soy and corn businesses, it said.
During the first six months of 2023, LDC said it advanced
long-term projects and initiatives, including the expansion of
its canola processing facility in Canada,and investments in facilities
supporting its grains, oilseeds and sugar origination
and logistics activities in Argentina and Brazil.
LDC also established a new Food & Feed Solutions
Platform to address favorable market trends toward nutritious,
nature-based products, with a focus on growing its presence in
the lecithin, glycerin and specialty feed protein space.
